Magic Is In The Making

A hyper-lapsed view

meets our new Insta attention spans

implying speedy ease.

When really, slow, measured, heartfelt moments

stand back and appreciate the changing view of art in all its creation

turn their heads this way and that,

consider changes,

hand on chin,

gauging rightness,

honing colour, size, brushstroke, stitch.

Hours of true touch create magic things.

With pockets, layers and swathes of story.

A vista from every direction.

If we want to see it that way.

Hyper Social

Sometimes, as creative people, we don't do ourselves any favours on social media.. hyper-lapsing makes everything look easy, quick.. even skill-less?

In our thirty second split clips, a piece moves effortlessly through an hour or more of work. So much is unseen in our handy process snippets.

When you look at crafted pieces and really appreciate the creation, what do you see? How do you understand its coming into fruition? How do you feel its action? What was the vision, and how has it moved from an idea to a completed piece? What makes the piece tangible and true?

So many moving parts exist towards the whole and in such recognition, the hyper-lapse becomes hyper-care. Kind of timeless actually, and, in our slowed-yet-full attention, says, “This piece rocks and this person can!” Meaning has value, and value has meaning. Everything has a place, and the creation gets a real home to go to.
